WHITE MAZE

"White Maze" is a captivating photo series that captures the architectural beauty of a white stairwell. Inspired by my long-standing fascination with stairwells, which began in my childhood when I first discovered the endless steps of M.C. Escher, this series explores the theme of searching for the right path.

Concept

The images depict a protagonist standing before a maze of staircases in a large white cube. Each staircase represents a decision option to be explored. This multitude of possible paths symbolizes the individual choices that shape our lives and make us who we are.

Implementation

The images were captured using the high-resolution medium format X2D camera. The particularly high dynamic range of this camera makes it possible to illuminate the space, which is primarily lit only by a skylight. This allows for the precise capture of fine details and nuances in light and shadow. The very bright images emphasize the positive mood of the shots and reinforce the feeling of clarity and expansiveness within the stairwell.

With their bright, clear visual language, the photographs blend perfectly into a white interior with a very orderly style. The images are perfect for offices, waiting rooms, and conference rooms. Basically, places where people often make decisions and think about the next steps.
