Who hasn't experienced this? Hour after hour, the car sways along seemingly endless, meandering roads through the night. The never-ending journey is only interrupted by brief stops at rest areas. We rarely give these luminous islands in the dark night a second glance. Yet, these buildings are testaments to the era of individual transport – an area of our lives that is currently undergoing major change. In my latest photo series "Midnight Refuel," I take you on a journey to the mystically appealing gas stations on a hot summer night in southern Spain:
