Gemeinhardt Spezialgerüstbau

Client profile: Gemeinhardt Gerüstbau Service GmbH

Gemeinhardt Gerüstbau Service is one of my many long-standing clients. Together, we have produced exciting campaigns and reference shoots in both images and videos. The company starts where normal scaffolders stop: suspended scaffolding under bridges, mobile scaffolding for partial renovations, and complete enclosures of large structures are their daily business.

When working at a height of 50m, both the scaffolder and the photographer must have a head for heights. Thanks to my many years of experience in alpine climbing, I am well prepared for this type of project. Occupational safety measures such as personal fall protection, protective clothing, and signal colors are top priority for productions on construction sites, ensuring that my client is legally protected and my team is physically safe.

Photo and video production at the Lehnmühle dam

For the photo production at the Lehnmühle dam, we worked with the support of state-of-the-art technologies. The short film was shot entirely with a drone and serves as a project overview on the client's website. The photos of the scaffolders at work get their particularly crisp contrast from wireless studio flashes, which, secured by ropes, can also be used at these airy heights. This allows us to achieve studio quality for employee photos on the construction site. The heroic images of the workers are the basis for a recruiting campaign and show the excitement in the everyday life of a scaffolder.

Video production of the Karl-Alexander Bridge

In this video production, the client speaks on behalf of the contractor. There is no better reference than an authentic on-site report from the construction manager. He talks about how positive the collaboration with Gemeinhardt Gerüstbau Service is. In addition to classic video recordings close to the people at work, drone videos and time-lapse videos are used to create a varied and exciting atmosphere in the image video.

Snow Scaffold Photo Production

Snow in October, can we make that happen, Mr. Voss?

When Gemeinhardt Gerüstbau Service commissioned me to create advertising images for their new product campaign, I was immediately excited by the idea. A new scaffold was to be promoted with the photos. In the winter, a snow-covered truck parks next to the scaffold, and a worker on the platform clears it of its white load before it embarks on its safe journey on the road. Three motifs were requested for the photo campaign:

  1. An overall view of the scaffold

  2. The ascent via the side stairs, and

  3. A worker in action 'clearing snow'

The shoot had to be realized in October with a week of preparation time. Since no snowstorms were predicted in Saxony for this period, we developed a different concept for the shots. The three motifs had to be captured in 90 minutes, as the forwarding company wanted to send the truck back on the road afterward. Another challenge was the wind, which kept blowing the snowflakes in different directions. Here, we chose the image composition so that it worked with the wind direction. In addition, the sun kept breaking through the cloud cover. In order to maintain the dark drama of a blizzard, we darkened the shots considerably and focused on the scaffold, worker, and truck with three flash units.

To create a realistic snowstorm look, we used the following techniques:

  • An ND filter for a dark overall mood

  • A snow cannon to create a snow-like structure on the surfaces of the scaffold, truck, and actor

  • Artificial snowflakes in post-production for the feeling of a storm, with simultaneous control over the position of the snowflakes

  • Selection of a suitable image section to avoid showing any yellow autumn leaves

As a bonus, Gemeinhardt Gerüstbau Service ultimately received not only the motif of the scaffold but also an animated GIF showing the truck parking in front of the scaffold. The scaffold is illuminated with five flashes. The front of the truck was also illuminated for each individual image. A great image for the social media campaign.

Gewandhaus Leipzig Photo Production

In this photo production, the images again serve as material for an employee campaign in the Leipzig region. Equipped with a hard hat and studio light, we photograph the employees of Gemeinhardt Gerüstbau Service in various daily work situations: project planning on the tablet, unloading the truck, and erecting the scaffold. The Panorama Tower, which is very prominent for Leipzig, serves as the background.

Photo Production Portrait Shooting Managing Director

Walter Stuber is one of the two managing directors of Gemeinhardt Gerüstbau Service GmbH. As part of the publication of his book 'Mutmacher' (Encourager), we created new portrait shots of the business professional.
